"Q" is a UK monthly music magazine first issued in 1986. It usually mainly focused on the interviews with famous singers and other artists.
The first thing that grabs all the attention is the big "Q" in a red square in the left top corner of the cover page. This is an original and unique masthead which is recognizable particularly for this magazine. The background is the main picture. It is a close up shot and it is smartly placed as the model's face is in the centre while her hair serves as the background for all the cover lines. The text is spread on the sides of the page avoiding the centre so that the face is the main focus.
All the text is in white bold sans serif font. They are of different styles and sizes but look pretty similar and that makes all of them look very neat and readable. The main cover line, which is connected to the main picture, stands out the most because of it's size and also because it is placed where we are used to see the musthead. Even though there is a lot of text it doesn't look overwhelming and the reader pays the same attention to each bit of it. There is an original way to bulletpoint the text by using blue rhombus (or diamonds) instead of usual boring dots. Also there are tiny blu lines separating the cover lines from each other.
There is an advert of a new column in the magazine which is placed in a form of a blue circle with a text inside of it at a slight angle. This circle could be a sticker placed over the printed cover page.
The date and number of the issue, as well as the website, is written on the bar code, in the bottom left corner of the page.
Overall the cover page is very specific for this particular magazine as it has some unique features (such as masthead). It catches the eye because of the contrast between model's pale face and ginger-red hair. Her eyes, that look straight at the camera, are highlighted by make up and make contact with the potential reader. The page looks very balanced and bright.
Another issue of the "Q" featuring Adele on the cover looks quite similar.
